For the fourth episode of the German Museum of Books and Writing's podcast "AugenRausch", we visited comic artist Nicolas Mahler in Vienna. Mahler turned his attention to elite independent comics in the 1990s and is well known for his literary adaptations and other works.

At the weekend, Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier gave a welcome speech by video to open the jazz festival DISRUPTIVE ELEMENTS: JAZZ, PROTEST AND REVOLUTION we are holding to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution this autumn. The festival remembered the importance of music as a medium of resistance in the GDR. The occasion of the festival was the presentation of the historical archive of Jazzwerkstatt Peitz to the German Museum of Books and Writing.
The jazz festival was accompanied by two discussions featuring prominent panellists, who debate questions relating to democracy today. The patronage was by Minister of State and Federal Government Commissioner for East Germany Carsten Schneider.
